Historical Sundance
The Sundance Instititue has posted PDFs of Past Sundance Festival Selections. The PDFs are an alpha list of all films and directors. The lists are not separated by entry category nor do they contain other production data. They are also not “text” PDFs so the data cannot easily be imported BUT the summary is now out there.
Previous Sundance Winners can be found on Indie Internet Movie Database (Indie.IMDB.com). The entry page has the Grand Jury Prize but the link to the year, (2004 winners, for example) contains the full list.
My own Searchable Sundance is getting very close. I’ve been databasing like crazy and I’m nearing the point of being able to get it up on my site. This database will let you look at things like:
- How many films has Steve Buscemi brought to Sundance?
- How many documentaries has Nancy Schreiber shot?
- Which films were in dramatic competition in 1987?
- Who was on the jury in 2002?
It will have all of the data from the last 20 years … should be a valuable resource, no?
