Here it is, the famous

Christ of the Deep StatueHere it is, the famous Christ of the Deep statue in John Pennenkamp State Park in Key Largo Florida. Joan and I went snorkeling on vacation last week and I personally christened the statue. Who knew fish liked vomit so much?

We visited Key West, too. It was sooo much like New Orleans (What’s that smell?) The humidity was unbelievable. I felt like I was back in the primordial soup and longing to return to the water from which my ancestors emerged. It was ungodly.

We also visted Hemingway House in Key West, where he was inspired to write The Old Man & The Sea. There was no air conditioning so the whole place smelled musty and like decay. The overwhelming heat and deterioriation made the fatalism of his novels the logical consequence of life on a remote island. It didn’t seem like paradise.

I was reading the New York Times today. Another article about the foam tests with the shuttle. Also discovered they have a website about the investigation (Challenger Accident Inquiry Board). One of the key recommendations is that in-orbit imaging is standard in future missions.
